Mumbai: Rajat Patidar, the captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has been fined Rs 12 lakh due to his team's slow over-rate during their recent IPL encounter against Mumbai Indians.
In this match, RCB secured a narrow victory over MI by 12 runs, with Patidar making a notable contribution of 64 runs off just 32 balls, helping his team reach a total of 221 runs for five wickets. Mumbai Indians managed to score 209 runs for nine wickets.
According to an IPL media statement, this fine was imposed as it was RCB's first offense of the season regarding over-rate violations, as outlined in Article 2.2 of the IPL's Code of Conduct.
Currently, RCB sits in third place on the points table with six points and is set to face Delhi Capitals at their home ground, M Chinnaswamy Stadium, on April 10 for their fifth match of the season.
